Permanent Exhibition Centre of Medieval and Renaissance Culture - Santa Maria Gate Tower

The Permanent Exhibition Centre of Medieval and Renaissance Culture is housed inside  the Santa Maria Gate Tower, built by Lombard craftsmen in the 15th century.

The exhibition was inaugurated in 2015 and is organised on three levels: Hall of Keys (garden level) where the key of the last gate is on display which used up until the 1960s, and some photographs that testify the history of the area from the beginning of the 20th century until today; Massari Hall (street level), with original attack and defence weapons and military clothing from the 15th to16th centuries owned by the National Gallery of Umbria (upper level), Berteschi Hall where the 1560 Statute and the Community Acts of Corciano (16th-18th centuries) are on display, among which the Resolution decreeing the construction of the Tower, the wooden statues of St. Sebastian (approx. 1480), St. Michael, by Polidoro Biti De Caporali (1551-1553) and Our Lady of the Annunciation from the end of the 15th century, later transformed into the Madonna of the Belt.
