The village of Magione, with Etruscan-Roman origins, rises up on the hills overlooking the eastern shore of Lake Trasimeno.

The inhabited centre is dominated by the majestic castle of the  Knights of Malta, characterised by a square plan with round towers and courtyard overlooked by three tiers of loggias.

In the village, well worth visiting are St. John the Baptist’s Church, with an imposing Baroque façade embellished by the cycle of frescoes by Gerardo Dottori, the Church of Our Lady of Grace which houses the painting of  "Virgin Enthroned with Child", attributed to Andrea Di Giovanni from Orvieto, the Lambardi Towers, built between the 12th and 13th centuries by the Knights of Jerusalem as a defensive system, and last but not least, the Town Hall, with the remarkable frescoes by Gerardo Dottori.

Not to be missed in the surrounding area is the ancient medieval village of Montecolognola, where one can enjoy a splendid view of the lake and the San Feliciano Fishing Museum, an interesting centre of documentation and testimony of the history and life of Lake Trasimeno.
