Piazza Umberto I Fountain

At the centre of Umberto I Square is a true polygonal with the emblem of the castle and two rampant griffins holding an abraded shield. It was originally built in 1473 as a cistern for the collection of rain water. With the construction of the aqueduct in 1903, the cistern was closed and it became the lower basin of a fountain in imitation of the Fontana Maggiore of Perugia.
