Corgna Palace

The Corgna palace is located in the historic centre of Città della Pieve, opposite the Duomo, today Gramsci square. It was built in the  period 1555-1563 on a design by the architect Galeazzo Alessi at the behest of the Marquis of Castiglione del Lago, Ascanio della Corgna and by his brother Cardinal Fulvio. It is certainly the most significant of the stately homes in Città della Pieve, and inside both the vaults of the halls and those of the stairs are covered with frescoes, painted by Pomarancio and his pupil Salvio Salvini. The "Francesco Melosio" municipal library is located inside the building.
